Virtual Reality Project

Joy Li, assistant professor of game design and development in the College of Computing and Software Engineering, has always been interested in using advanced gaming tools in a serious manner. Her current research involves helping children who are on the autism spectrum and have an attention deficit by introducing them to adaptive virtual reality (VR) systems. The project is funded by a four-year National Science Foundation (NSF) grant totaling more than $170,000. Li鈥檚 research aims to improve the learning ability of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and provide novel design guidelines for future virtual reality systems used in ASD therapy.

Congratulations to Dawn Tatum and Dr. Austin Brown

Congratulations to Dawn Tatum. CCSE received the State Farm Grant for $20k to serve undeserved students. It's a student success related grant.

Congratulations Dr Austin Brown. He will be working with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to help compile and summarize the analytics required for their annual report on youth recidivism. This annual report created by the DJJ is submitted to the state legislature and the governor each year as part of the process of program oversight. The one year grant total is $46,000.

Innovative Baseball App

Apple鈥檚 WWDC23 Swift Student Challenge winner from 成人直播 has achieved a remarkable feat by winning an award for his innovative baseball app, landing him a meet and greet with Apple Inc. CEO Tim Cook. Yemi Agesin, a computer science student, recently completed his coursework at 成人直播 and embarked on an internship with Hawkeye Innovations, a prominent sports tracking company. The combination of his passion for baseball and his internship experience played a crucial role in inspiring his award-winning app.

NSF Aspiring PI Summit 2023

Dr. Valero was selected among the exclusive group of 30 national faculties to participate in NSF Aspiring PI Summit 2023. The Aspiring PI Network Finder facilitates the creation of new collaborations for broadening participation in computing. This portfolio of emerging projects updates in real-time, as principal investigators continue to consider and revise their vision in response to new opportunities and challenges.

More Success Stories

  • CCSE had a successful GenCyber Student Camp 2023 lead by Dr. Valero and Shahriar with 65 highschool students from diverse schools in Georgia.
  • The STEM Immersion Summer Institute is aimed to spur interest in STEM fields for black male high school students in Cobb County. This program was held at CCSE at 成人直播 and provided an enriching experience for all participants. The students explored subjects such as cybersecurity, robotics, and gaming, and were given comprehensive instruction and hands-on learning. On the final day of the program, parents and sponsors were invited to witness the students' projects on display.
