Welcome to the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) at ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ (³ÉÈËÖ±²¥). We are delighted to learn of your interest in our programs!

We invite you to join a diverse and student-responsive community of 55 staff and 258 faculty who share the core values of honesty, innovation, compassion, accountability, respect, and empowerment (HiCARE). Ours is a community for inclusive excellence in learning and research that respects all our students' needs, responsibilities, and aspirations with personalized support from faculty mentors and professional advisors. As we leverage the strengths of our diverse body of 3,015 students (59% ethnic and racial minorities and 65% women) and the unique perspectives and cultures they bring, we continuously innovate to find the best ways to help students learn and prepare for a world of global opportunities.

Undergraduate degrees in biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, and environmental sciences provide opportunities for students to concentrate on human health, forensic chemistry, computational mathematics, engineering physics, or other areas that lead to exciting careers. Our students also engage in contemporary experiential learning opportunities in undergraduate research, service learning, study abroad, and internships that use science and mathematics to make a difference for people and communities.

Our college offers graduate programs in chemical sciences and integrative biology, including special Double-Owl pathways designed to expedite attaining a master's degree for undergraduate students. We have an impressive research portfolio of federally funded grants from prestigious institutions such as the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, and Department of Education, providing over 8 million dollars in research support over the next 5 years. Additionally, we are developing a Ph.D. program in Medical Science, further expanding our academic offerings.

Our faculty members excel in a diverse range of research areas, with strengths in developmental and organismal biology, microbiology, neuroscience, infectious diseases and drug discovery, theoretical particle physics, mathematical biology, as well as adaptation and change in the environment. These extensive research capabilities provide numerous opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students to actively contribute to groundbreaking research and make new discoveries.

Join us on our journey of unbridled curiosity in exploring nature, humanity, and the technology we invent and use.

Research in the college is supported by the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Health, the Department of Defense, the Department of Education, and private foundations.

Discover through research

³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ is a student-centered, research-driven R2 institution. Research is a large part of a student’s studies. CSM departments provide both undergraduate and graduate students increasing research opportunities to collaborate with our faculty in current research providing cutting-edge instrumentation and spacious labs. Often these type of research opportunities are not available to students until the post-doc level. Poster presentation showcases and symposiums throughout the year allow students to share findings about their research. Learn more about Research in the College of Science and Mathematics.
