Webinar on Using Discussions Effectively in Online Courses
Webinar on Using Discussions Effectively in Online Courses
    1:00pm

Do you use discussions in your online courses? Or do you totally avoid them because you want to eliminate inane exchanges between students that makes no sense and adds no value to the class or to their learning? Do you think it’s important for students to engage in online discussions, but you are not sure how to proceed? Have you used discussions, but they have not been as effective or engaging? Or you have never really thought about the usefulness of discussions as an engagement and interactive tool in online teaching and learning? If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, this webinar is for you.

During the “Using Discussions Effectively in Online Courses” webinar session, we will demonstrate how instructors can effectively include discussions in their online courses, how they can make grading these discussions less of a chore and more of a learning experience for students and how incorporating discussions based on high fidelity topics can add value to learning opportunities for students and help them understand concepts through peer interaction and instructor guidance.

      • Explain the principle of Universal Design
      • Create or design a learning activity, assessment, or a piece of content according to UDL guidelines.
      • Discuss applying UDL guidelines to real-world learning activities.
      • Evaluate their course content, material, activities, or assessments according to UDL guidelines.

Duration in Hours and Minutes: Three weeks, approximately 4 hours per week investment.
