Professional Licensure

³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ provides various programs that lead to professional licensure in Georgia and is dedicated to delivering precise information to assist students in their career planning. Different states have unique requirements for professional licensure and the process of obtaining it. In some states, graduating from an accredited or approved program is necessary, while others may mandate additional coursework, fieldwork, or training, and/or passing a state licensing exam.

³ÉÈËÖ±²¥â€™s programs leading to professional licensure may not meet the educational requirements for licensure of certification in states outside of Georgia. To learn about your program and your state review our .

Kennesaw State is constantly updating this database, and has prioritized programs and states in which students are enrolled at ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥. If you do not see your program of interest and state on the database, .

To learn about how ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ ensures compliance with federal higher education licensure rules review our guidebook

  • ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ is a member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA), allowing us to offer distance learning programs (including online courses and supervised field experiences) to residents outside of Georgia. However, NC-SARA membership does not provide reciprocity or exempt students from meeting the professional licensing requirements of other states. Consequently, Georgia's licensing requirements may not be sufficient for obtaining a license in other states.

³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ strives to keep information about educational requirements for licensure in Georgia up to date. However, licensure regulations frequently change, and state licensure boards may require applicants to pass professional exams, complete background checks, accumulate professional experience, or take jurisprudence exams, etc. These requirements may not be addressed by the student's educational program.

The following information is provided for current and prospective students interested in or enrolled in programs that may lead to professional licensure. It is important to note that each U.S. state and territory has its own licensing and certification requirements for professional fields. The University is working to verify whether its programs meet the educational requirements for licensure outside Georgia. Additional information will be provided herein as it becomes available.

  • According to 34 CFR 668.43(c)(3)(ii), institutions must provide the Department of Education with the determined location of a student upon request. To comply with this, institutions need to have policies or procedures in place to consistently identify the student's residential location. This determination must be made both when the student enrolls and when the institution receives information from the student indicating a change in location.

³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ will use the student's permanent address for notification purposes.

Prospective students residing or working outside the United States should verify with the relevant certifying agency whether completing a degree program at Kennesaw State University will fulfill the credentialing requirements of the country where they plan to seek employment. Additionally, students should ensure that their immigration status will remain valid during any professional experiences or periods spent preparing for licensure exams, especially if they are not enrolled at ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ during those times.

Relocating to another state while enrolled in a program, even if you intend to continue online, may affect licensure requirements. Before you move, please contact your program coordinator or college-level designee to discuss authorization and licensure eligibility requirements for the new state of residence.

  • Before enrolling in any program aimed at meeting the educational requirements for practicing a specific occupation in a state other than Georgia, students should consult with their program coordinator or college-level designee to ensure the program meets the requirements of the state where they plan to practice. Many licensure boards have additional requirements beyond successful degree completion. State laws, regulations, and policies can change at any time, potentially affecting the program's ability to fulfill licensure requirements. It is the student's responsibility to check with the licensing board(s) in their state of residence or the state where they intend to obtain a license for the latest information and requirements. ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ will not be held liable if a student is unable to obtain licensure or certification in any jurisdiction or secure a practicum/internship location.
  • To receive contact information for your program’s designee, email ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥admit@kennesaw.edu for undergraduate programs and ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥grad@kennesaw.edu for graduate programs. If you are an international student with additional questions, please email the Office of Institutional Effectiveness at oli@kennesaw.edu.
