Lt. Gen. (Ret.) In-Bum Chun to give public lecture, meet with students and faculty
Lieutenant General (Ret.) In-Bum Chun, a highly decorated veteran of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Army, will discuss the implications for South Korea and the U.S. of current tensions on the Korean Peninsula during a visit to 成人直播 on Sept. 28.
Chun鈥檚 visit will include a public lecture, classroom and informal presentations to Kennesaw State students of political science, international studies, Asian studies and conflict management and meetings with university officials.
, who retired from active duty in the ROK in July 2016 after 39 years of service, served most recently as deputy commander for the First ROK Army and previously as commander of the ROK Special Warfare Command. Chun has been cited for saving the life of General Lee Ki-Baek in the Rangoon bombing; planning and executing the world鈥檚 largest computer-simulated military exercise; contributing to the first 鈥渇air and free鈥 Iraq elections; and successfully resolving a hostage crisis when the Taliban kidnapped 23 Korean missionary workers. Among his numerous honors are the National Security Medal (Kwang-Bok), the U.S. Army Commendation Medal, the ROK Minister of Defense Citation, the U.S. Meritorious Service Medal, the U.S. Bronze Star medal, and the Korean Presidential Citation. Chun holds a Ph.D. in political science from Kyung-nam University, an M.A. in Policy Studies from Seoul National University, and an M.S. in Military Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He currently serves as senior advisor to Korea Corporate Members with the Association of the U.S. Army, and is a visiting fellow at Brookings Institution鈥檚 Center for East Asia Policy Studies.
